Wayne Central Elementary School

Dear Wayne Central families,

Due to the forecasted high temperatures, we will be adjusting the schedule for K–8 students on Monday, June 23, and Tuesday, June 24. These days will now be half days for all K–8 students. Wednesday, June 25, and Thursday, June 26, will remain K-8 half-days as previously scheduled. Please see the half-day release times below:

• Middle School: 10:40 a.m.
• Wayne Elementary: 11:45 a.m.
• Wayne Primary: 11:40 a.m.

PLEASE NOTE: Secondary students taking end-of-year assessments and Regents exams, please follow your exam schedule. Any adjustments will be communicated through the High School.  

Below are considerations for parents provided by the district's medical director:

1. Dress students for the weather: Loose, light clothing is best.  
2. Frequent water breaks: If possible, send students in with water bottles. Access to drinking fountains/bottle filling stations will also be provided throughout the school day.  
3. You know your child best. If you feel it's best to keep your child home, please communicate this to your building's nurse, and we will document the absence as "excused".  

Additionally, staff will exercise caution and monitor students for heat-related illness. Please encourage your child(ren) to notify an adult if they are feeling ill in any way. Individual buildings will provide additional communication regarding changes for specially planned end-of-year events.
