Attendance

Wayne Elementary

If your student will be absent, please call 315-524-1138 and leave a message with the reason for the absence.

If no call is received, any student marked absent by a teacher will automatically trigger a call to the parent contact numbers, notifying the parent that the student is absent.

It is important to contact the attendance number to give a reason for the absence.

All unverified absences or absences called in without a reason being given will be considered unexcused.

Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

  • When a student is to be absent from school or class, the parent/guardian must contact the school nurse’s office to report the absence.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to work collaboratively with school personnel to attend meetings and respond to attendance concerns.
  • Parents/guardians are expected to monitor students' work when make-up opportunities are required.

Medication Drop Off Procedures

💊Medication Drop-Off Procedures💊

To keep all students safe and to comply with state health regulations, all medications must be dropped off directly with the school nurse. Our nurse is responsible for administering daily medications and monitoring students with health conditions, so it is important to schedule a time to meet with her.

Please note:

  • Only the school nurse, who is a registered nurse, can accept medications from parents/guardians.

  • Administrators, secretaries, teachers, and students may not accept or transport medications at any time.

  • If you need to drop off medication, please contact the nurse in advance to arrange a time that works for both you and the nurse.

Thank you for helping us maintain a safe and organized process for all students!

Social and Emotional Development

School provides a supportive environment where students can develop social skills, build friendships, and enhance their emotional well-being.

Future Success

Regular attendance instills valuable habits such as punctuality, responsibility, and commitment, which are essential for success in life.

Who To Contact

At Wayne Central Elementary School, we deeply value open and honest dialogue between parents, students, and staff. We understand that instances where one person's child is mean to another person's child can cause distress, and we are committed to providing the necessary support to both students and families. By reaching out to us directly, we can work together to address concerns promptly, implement appropriate interventions, and foster a safe and inclusive environment for all.

We encourage you to utilize the established communication channels we have in place to report incidents, share your concerns, or seek guidance. Our dedicated team of educators and support staff is readily available to listen, offer assistance, and take appropriate action as needed.

Below are a series of steps you should follow to bring the matter to our attention so it can be resolved:

  1. Talk directly to the staff member involved (i.e., teacher) - Speak directly to the adult involved. This gives them an opportunity to clear up any misunderstandings or miscommunications.
  2. Reach out to the Counseling Office or Assistant Principals - If you feel that the person involved did not handle your concern appropriately, or there isn't a specific person attached to your concern, please contact the Counseling Office or an Assistant Principal. Our counselors and administrators will help work through issues with students or adults.
  3. Contact the Principal - If you still feel the issue has not been handled or resolved, contact the Principal.
