Wayne Central Appoints Trista Nicolo as Principal of Wayne Elementary School
The Wayne Central School District is pleased to announce Trista Nicolo's appointment as the new Principal of Wayne Elementary School. Nicolo brings a wealth of experience and an unwavering commitment to student success, literacy advancement, and inclusive school leadership to her new role.
Nicolo has served as Assistant Principal of Wayne Elementary and Wayne Primary Schools since January 2024, where she played a key role in shaping a positive school culture, implementing Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), leading professional development, and guiding instructional strategy. She has also been instrumental in launching districtwide literacy initiatives aligned with the Science of Reading.
Before her work in Wayne Central School District, Nicolo held several leadership positions in the West Irondequoit Central School District, including K-12 Literacy Coach, Acting Director of Humanities, and Interim K-12 Curriculum Supervisor. She has been deeply involved in curriculum development, instructional coaching, equity initiatives, and building strong teacher support systems throughout her career. She is certified as a LETRS Trainer of Teachers (3rd Edition) and holds additional credentials in Morphology, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, and Multi-Sensory Education.
Nicolo holds a Master of Science in Education from the University of Rochester's Warner School of Education and a Bachelor of Science in Health Science from SUNY Brockport, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She also completed the K-12 School Leadership Program and earned her School Building and School District Leadership certifications in 2022.
